Bridgeman Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning is thrilled to announce the BC Government’s new heat pump grant program, launching on June 18th. This initiative in most cases cover 100% of heat pump systems and also the installation costs .  With new middle income qualifying grants this substantial financial assistance budgeted at $150 million will not last long before the grant is depleted and as such we are encouraging our customers to start the process as soon as possible to take advantage of this BC Government program.  Submissions to the Program can not be made until after June 18th.

The BC grant is made up of enhanced support from the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program and the Low Carbon Economy Fund, eligible applicants can now receive up to $16,000 in rebates plus up to  further $5000 towards electrical upgrade to transition to high-efficiency heat pumps. Additionally, for homes heated by natural gas or propane, this represents a 70% increase in support compared to previous rebate programs.

Save Up to $21,000 on Your Heat Pump Installation!

Eligible applicants can benefit from a total of up to $21,000 in rebates, which includes the costs of heat pump installation and necessary electrical upgrades. Moreover, successful OHPA applicants switching from oil to electric heat pumps will receive an additional one-time payment of $250 from the Government of Canada.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for these rebates, your home must meet specific criteria:

  • 1. Primary Residence and Income level for people in the home. : The property must be your year-round primary residence and at least 12 months old.

  • 2. Property Value: For income levels 1 and 2, the property must have a total assessed value under $1,230,000 as listed by BC Assessment. If your home’s value is higher, you may qualify under income level 3.

  • 3. Utility Accounts: You must have a residential utility account with FortisBC, BC Hydro, or a municipal utility.

  • 4. Eligible Homes:

    • Single-family homes.

    • Secondary suites in single-family homes with separate utility meters.

    • Permanently fixed mobile homes with full plumbing, heating, electrical, and sewer services.

    • Duplexes, triplexes, row homes, or townhomes with individual natural gas/electricity meters.

Additional Requirements

  • Rental Homes: Renters need a landlord consent form.

  • Energy Utility Bills: Bills must be in the name of the resident/homeowner (not a strata corporation or landlord).

  • Pre-Registration: Pre-register and obtain an eligibility code before upgrading. Registration opens June 18th 2024.
